Born in Patti (Messina) in 1950.
Journalist and writer1, he has worked for L'Ora, II Mondo, la Repubblica. He was Deputy Editor and then Editorial Director of II Sole 24 Ore from May 1997 to October 2002, Editor of La Lettera Finanziaria, economic columnist for La7 and, from 2003 to 2006, Director of the APCOM agency.
He joined the Pirelli group in 2006, first holding the position of Director of Institutional Affairs and External Relations and subsequently assuming responsibility for the Culture Department. He also became Director of Fondazione Pirelli and member of Pirelli Tyre S.p.A.'s Board of Directors.
From September 2020 to October 2022, he has been Senior Vice President Institutional Affairs & Culture. To date he holds the position of Senior Vice President Culture of Pirelli and Director of the Pirelli Foundation. He is President of Museimpresa and Fondazione Assolombarda, member of the General Council of Confindustria, President of the Advisory Board of UniCredit Lombardy as well as Vice President of Centro per la Cultura d’Impresa. For the four-year period 2020-2024 he also served as Vice President of the Industrial Union of Turin.
He is a board member of LIUC/University - Libera Università di Castellanza, Nomisma, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano as well as several other institutions and foundations, including Aspen Institute Italia, Unipolis Foundation and Collegio di Milano.
He lectures on media and communication at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano and has taught at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi.
With Fondazione Pirelli he has curated various works dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of the company including A Muse in the Wheels (2015); Pirelli: Advertising with a Capital P (2017); II Canto della fabbrica (2018); Industrial Humanism (2019); Thinking ahead. Pirelli: 150 years of Industry, Innovation and Culture (2022) and The sports workshop. Team work, research, technology, passion and social value (2024). He writes about corporate culture for the Huffington Post and is the author of the Corporate Culture blog on Fondazione Pirelli website where he addresses economic and social issues related to the corporate world as well as reading advice and general food for thought.
