Solid partnerships to better serve our customers

Pirelli develops its product portfolio in partnership with the most demanding and prestigious car manufacturers. These include Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin, Pagani and McLaren, as well as Premium car manufacturers such as Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo, and motorcycle manufacturers such as Ducati, BMW, MV Agusta, Triumph and KTM.

Such partnerships are fundamental to the Pirelli business model because they give Pirelli broad visibility on the sector’s technological innovations and consumer needs, which then goes into product development before going to market. This helps Pirelli to plan its medium and long-term investments, particularly in research and development and production.

Meanwhile, car manufacturers benefit from the joint development process by achieving the perfect match between the tyre and the car’s dynamic characteristics and electronics – the “perfect fit”. From 2014 to 2017 an average of over 300 Pirelli tyres were approved by car manufacturers each year. The pace of homologations increased in 2018 with 421 new High Value homologations, bringing the number of high-end homologations in Pirelli’s portfolio to over 2,480. Solid partnerships with Premium and Prestige carmakers also strengthens Pirelli’s position in the Replacement channel (pull-through effect).
