Director of Pirelli since 5 August 2020

Born in Athens in 1966, he undertook a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Business Economics at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1988 and completed his journey through academia with an MBA at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1992.

He began his professional career as a Management Trainee at Merck & Co. in the United States before moving to McKinsey in New York. There, as an Associate, he took steps towards the pharmaceutical sector, taking on the Health customer portfolio. In 1994 he joined Laboratoires Fournier, where he was appointed General Manager of the Greek associated company, followed by the Spanish one.

1997 saw the beginning of his time at Schering Plough, first as General Manager of the Italian associated company, Essex Italy, then of the Spanish one, before transferring in 2000 to the US subsidiary Schering Labs, where he was Business Manager for Primary Care and Managed Care.

From 2003 to 2009 he worked at GlaxoSmithKline, initially as European Commercial Development Manager, then as President and Managing Director of the Italian associated company. From 2008, he managed the Southeast Europe area, in addition to holding the office of Executive Sponsor for the Global Centre of Excellence in Oncology.

In 2006 he was also Vice President of Farmindustria, Italian association of pharmaceutical companies, Vice President of Confindustria Verona, as well as President of the Confindustria Foreign Investors Committee as member of the Confindustria Main Board in Rome from 2008.

In 2010 he joined Coesia, a global leader in industrial and packaging solutions, as Chief Executive Officer.

From 2010 to 2020 he was Vice President of Confindustria Emilia as well as President of its Packaging segment. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Dompé Farmaceutici since 2018.

On 1 August 2020 he was appointed General Manager co-CEO of Pirelli.
